WIN Lingual Braces Houston
Invisible Braces Made for Your Unique Smile

If you are reading this page, you have probably heard of lingual braces — they are similar to regular braces, but they go on the back of teeth instead of the front! But did you know that there are quite a few different brands that make lingual braces? Each system comes with unique features. In our practice, Dr. Hall favors WIN lingual braces. Continue reading below to learn how this treatment stands out from other options.
What Is the WIN Lingual Brace System?

The WIN lingual braces system uses a series of brackets and wires to apply gentle pressure to the teeth, gradually shifting them over time. However, this treatment is not your run-of-the-mill approach to orthodontic care.
One of the most unique things about WIN is that each bracket is made specifically for the tooth it will be placed on, which facilitates comfortable and efficient tooth movements. The brackets are also remarkably flat, which minimizes irritation for your tongue. Additionally, the wires are bent by computer-assisted robots, so they perfectly fit your unique mouth and work in total harmony with your treatment plan.
How Do WIN Lingual Braces Work?

The treatment process for WIN lingual braces is similar to that of traditional braces in some ways and different in others. Here is an overview of what to expect:
- During your initial consultation, Dr. Hall will confirm that WIN braces are a good fit for your situation (they are a great option for the vast majority of patients).
- Our team will use our intraoral scanner to capture precise, three-dimensional digital impressions of your teeth. The scan will be the basis for designing your custom orthodontic appliances.
- A patented manufacturing process will be used to create your unique brackets.
- We will bond the brackets to the backs of your teeth and place your arch wire.
- Like traditional braces, the brackets and wires will apply gentle pressure to your teeth in order to shift them.
- You will visit us every 6 – 8 weeks or so. During these appointments, Dr. Hall will check on your progress, and our team will adjust your braces as necessary.
- After 12 – 24 months (on average), we will remove your braces and you can start wearing your retainer.
The Benefits of WIN Lingual Braces

WIN lingual braces are pretty amazing! Here are some of their most outstanding benefits:
- Invisible from the outside: WIN lingual braces are placed on the back surfaces of your teeth, so no one will notice you are straightening your smile.
- Custom-made for comfort and efficiency: Each set is tailored specifically for your dental anatomy, which helps you achieve great results with minimal discomfort.
- An easy adjustment period. The relatively flat brackets of the WIN system may interfere with your speech less than the brackets of other lingual braces options.
- Effective for a wide range of cases: WIN can correct mild to complex orthodontic concerns, including crowding, spacing, and bite alignment.
- Suitable for adults and teens: If you want a discreet orthodontic option, WIN lingual braces are ideal for both working professionals and students.
WIN Lingual Braces FAQs
What Makes the WIN System Different from Other Lingual Braces?
The WIN system stands out from other types of lingual braces because each bracket is custom-made for the specific tooth it will be attached to. This makes for more efficient tooth movements than what is possible with mass-manufactured braces. As a result, you may have a shorter overall treatment time. The brackets are also flatter than what you would find with other types of lingual braces, which creates a more comfortable treatment experience.
Who Is a Good Candidate for WIN Lingual Braces?
You might have heard that lingual braces are only for “mild to moderate” cases of dental misalignment, but that is not true! The fact is that WIN braces can be suitable for a wide range of issues, including severe and complex problems such as missing teeth cases and cases requiring surgery. Dr. Hall has extensive experience using Lingual braces in All types of cases.
During your consultation, Dr. Hall will examine your mouth and let you know if WIN seems like a good fit for you. In addition to the alignment of your teeth, other factors that will affect your choice is treatment goals, treatment expectations and past orthodontic experiences. Dr. Hall has treated many patients that have had previous orthodontic experiences with other kinds of orthodontic treatments that did not meet their expectations.
Do WIN Lingual Braces Have Any Disadvantages?
Every treatment has its pros and cons! Although WIN is one of the most innovative orthodontic treatments on the market, Dr Hall has found that 98% of patients are candidates for Lingual WIN braces.
Just like with other types of braces, you may experience mild discomfort as the brackets and wires apply pressure to your teeth. Some patients also experience mild and temporary speech alterations (this is less common with WIN than with other lingual braces due to the remarkably flat brackets).
Our team can coach you on how to minimize the risk of problems with WIN so you can enjoy smooth treatment from start to finish.
How Much Do WIN Braces Cost?
The cost of WIN lingual braces depends on the details of your unique case. Logically, longer and more complex treatment will lead to higher fees. The customization of WIN also adds to its cost.
Although it is not drastically more expensive than other treatment options, it does often come with a higher price than traditional braces.
Our team can provide an estimate during your consultation, and we will be happy to discuss payment options as well.
How Should I Clean My WIN Lingual Braces?
Oral hygiene is always important during orthodontic treatment! You should be sure to thoroughly brush your teeth at least twice a day (after every meal would be even better). Regular flossing is also vital; a floss threader can help you clean around your oral appliances. A WaterPik and interdental brushes can also contribute to a clean and healthy mouth. Lingual braces stay cleaner than traditional braces due to their low-profile design, which also makes them easier to clean.
